Since the time hotmail became popular amongst the young generation the internet era began to trek. The teens became internet savvy now those teens are men and the next generation is more advanced and depends mainly on the internet for almost everything.
These days online shopping is becoming common. People search for their requirement and find via search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc. This medium is more effective than other advertising mediums such as hoardings, news papers, televisions, etc. in terms of reaching to potential buyers and even budget.
At the end of this blog you will be familiar with most of the trade jargons and when you will explain it your friends they will be impressed.
In other mediums you do not have a choice to show only to your target customers or not even your budget is in your control. Thanks to online advertising that breaks all these barricades.
The method for advertising on the internet is known as Search Engine Marketing or Pay Per Click.
Any person on this earth selling no matter what having a little internet knowledge could easily get started to this method. You are already a businessman so you know your market, your competitors & your USPs better than anyone else. Open an account with adwords dot google dot com, find some terms that relates to your business or products, make a list of all these terms these terms are called as Keywords. Then categorise them in different groups accordingly e.g. you have a stationary shop and your products are books, pens, etc. the keywords would be (books, long books, full scape books, note books & pens, fountain pens, 0.5 pens, sketch pens, etc) now all the keywords containing similar terms such as books/pens will be categorise in different groups, these groups are called as Ad groups. There could be several adgroups in a Campaign. Search engines give you a limited space to display the ad, you should be able to write a convincing and targeted ad, because customers will have their first impression about the product or service by reading these lines.
Now fix a budget for the ad account. Assign the max bid amount to each keyword this is the amount you are ready to pay when ever someone clicks on your ad. Yes! this is the most attractive feature of PPC, you do not pay for the impression your ad gets on the pages of a search engine, you only pay for the clicks your ad receives.
Once the ad goes live see the difference, however "good result needs effort" the account shouldn't be left on itself once made it should be frequently checked and analysed.

- Best Performing Adgroups
- Best Performing Keywords
- CTR (click thru rate) Analysis
- The account trends and the your competitors behaviour.
